Pabbel is a self-hosted mail, storage and account service. The short version: your data is yours, we store it to run the service you asked for, and nobody else gets it.
What we collect
Account details: your Pabbel email address, display name, and optional recovery email or phone number you add for two-step verification.
Content you store: emails you send and receive, files you upload to Drive, and metadata needed to organize them (folders, labels, stars, notes).
Service data: device push tokens (so we can deliver notifications), sign-in timestamps and IP addresses in security logs, and basic diagnostics when something fails.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not scan your mail or files to build advertising profiles.
No third party receives your content, with one class of exceptions: the infrastructure that runs the service (our servers, content delivery network, and push notification transport) processes data solely to deliver it.
How it’s protected
All traffic between your devices and Pabbel is encrypted in transit (TLS). Mail is exchanged with other providers using TLS whenever the other side supports it.
Access to production systems is limited to the people who operate Pabbel.
Retention and deletion
Your content stays until you delete it. Items in Trash are removed on a schedule; security logs rotate automatically.
You can delete individual emails and files at any time. To close your account and erase its data entirely, email us and we’ll complete it within 30 days.
Abuse reports and legal requests
Your data is never sold - full stop. There are exactly two situations where anyone other than you looks at content:
Abuse reports: when someone reports a shared file or a conversation as abusive (spam, malware, illegal content), we review the reported content itself to judge the claim and keep the service clean. Nothing beyond what was reported is examined.
Legal requests: when a competent authority presents a lawful demand (police, courts, or similar), we comply, limited to what the demand lawfully covers.
The Android apps
The Pabbel, Pabbel Mail and Pabbel Drive apps talk only to Pabbel servers. They request notification permission to show new mail and transfer progress, and use Google’s push service (Firebase Cloud Messaging) purely as a delivery channel - message content is fetched from our servers.
Accounts added in the apps are stored in Android’s account system on your device.
